I have attended the Adobe RIA Products – Pre-launch @ Hotel Dee Cee Manor, Chennai on 27th, June2009. This was a great event, jointly organised by Cold Fusion User Group, India and Flash Platform Team from Adobe and Esberi of RIA Digital Solutions.
Raghunath Thircovil, Flex Evangelist and Manju Kiran of Sr. Software Lead, ColdFusion from Adobe came to the Chennai ColdFusion User Group for the Adobe ColdFusion and Flash Platform Pre-launch. Since it’s a one day event we had the sessions on Preview of Adobe Flash Platform, Adobe ColdFusion at morning and hands on session on using Flash Builder and Adobe ColdFusion at afternoon. More than 50+ members from Flex and Cold Fusion community were came there to part of RIA Prelaunch. Raghu started the Event at 10:30 AM and he talked about the excellent features of Flash Builder 4 and Flash Catalyst with lots of demos. He gave some interesting demos on Flash Catalyst. This was wonderful stuff created by Adobe Flex team. I really wonder when I heard those features.
In continue with the speech of Raghu, Manju Kiran started his experience in Cold Fusion 8 & 9 andupcoming features of it. This was the excellent features from Server Side. There were many new features which Manju explained in ColdFusion that really attracts me and all the community members. Some of the features I really admired are as follows,
- Spreadsheet Integration and manipulations, thru design and code from ColdFusion Builder, which supports for Excel 97, 2000, 2003, 2007 and 2008.
- PowerPoint integration and manipulations, thru design and code, from Cold Fusion Builder which supports for PowerPoint 97, 2000, 2003, 2007 and 2008
- Object Relation Mapping – Internal DB creation without any otherDB.
- CFScript Enhancement -Some extra features are added in Cold Fusion script.
- IMAP access for to retrieve and manage Emails – easy access of GMail and some other mail services, which includes the manipilation like “attachments and folders, read, compose mail and forward”.
- The direct access of some ColdFusion tags as SOAP and AMF services
- ColdFusion multi-server manager - Perfect monitoring system for monitoring all the Cold Fusion Servers. Easy integration of Multiple servers at Single place.
- ColdFusion IDE Bolt features and extension for ORM Code generator and many more.
Then Raghu started his hands-on session on using Flash builder with ColdFusion and other server side technologies. During this session he asked some questions to attendees, to give a Goodies. I got answered for some questions (single question only.. ) However I got one fashion t-shirt ( which has the Flash Builder and Flash Catalyst integration designs in the front, and some adobe flash link at the back). Thanks to Raghu for giving those goodies.
